The case strikes a chord with me, mainly because this story isn’t unique. Alan Turing was a man whose work would help end World War II, who would plant the first seeds of would become the technological revolution of computers, and he was a man driven to suicide at the age of 41. Just the facts of the matter.Īnd here is the fact that I want to drive home. There was no flowing narration, no imagery or quirky stories wrapped up in his tale. Only this time, none of it was wrapped up in a dramatised context. Again, the name, and again, the fascination. Quite some time later, in July of last year, I was in London at the Science Museum where there happened to be an exhibition on Alan Turing’s life and work. I was fascinated by his story, which was fascinating as it was tragic. This was the first time I ever came across the name Alan Turing. It’s basically a fictionalised version of the lives of Alan Turing and Kurt Gödel. ![]() Years ago I picked up a book from my local library called A Madman Dreams Of Turing Machines.
